Hello, I was wondering if it makes sense to spread the 7.10 release or if I should wait for the 8.3 (or is it 8.4 now)?

  2. It's up to you, hopefully though we'll have a new release out shortly - moving to Kiwix has been a major stumbling block, to say the least. :(

Any word yet? Special situaton here. As part of the post fire recovery trying to use a large amiunt of potential reimbursement up (have to use up befroe November). We got very little in cash for all the obsolete/obsolescent harware and software lost in the fire (very heavily depreciated) but since we had "replacement" coverage are eligible to buy a lot for peanuts --- always the reverse of how badly the adjuster depreciated.

Anyway, we and the Chestnut Foundation are getting a bunch of nice laptops. I want to get the "open disc" programs installed on them before giving any out. Since it is so awkward getting ANY version of the disc here (limited bandwidth) don't want to have to arrange for that twice. How close are we to the new version release?

  4. Hi Mike,

I have to upgrade both blogs, then I'll update the disc as is without any new additions and we'll release then. After that the plan is to get what we've done so far with Kiwix into Subversion, so those who are able to help can polish off the rough edges and get it to the stage where we can do a proper release.

  5. Hi Mike,

If you are struggling with downloading you could try to email http://gbztraining.com/billydavies/index.php?option=com_contact&task=view&contact_id=3&Itemid=41 , this guy is a great supporter of OSS and posts discs for free (when the new one is out!). We are working on getting a 'free' postal system up and running.

  6. We're actually going to wait for Firefox 3 to go gold, then release a new version shortly thereafter.
