To keep the size of the OpenDisc small, I don't think should be included. It's a great program, but not needed by your average user. Those who know open source know about it, but those who just go on the computer to check their mail have a hard enough time using something open source, or I find at least. :P

This came up when I first started helping out with TheOpenCD, and eventually was nixed because of the very reasons you mentioned.
Also it's not cross-platform, so there's not a great deal going for it at the moment. I'm sure it's a stable program, just not mainstream enough at this point.
