  1. If you're fluent in English and another language, all you have to do is contact us through the contact form (so we have an email address to send you login details) and we'll make an account for you on the translation wiki.

And it doesn't matter if somebody is already translating that particular language either; we'd like a few people working on each language in case somebody isn't available down the track.

I could start translating to my native language (Lithuanian). I am not fluent english speaker, but I can use dictionary pretty good if needed :). Actually I want to translate because I hope that it will help to spread open source spirit in my country. The other reason is horrible translations lithuanians get (because nobody really cares), so horrible, that everyone starts to preffer english (feels like nation loosing it's identity). By the way, my girl studies philology, so maybe she'll help a little. I have not much time, but at least I can try as much as I can.

I can start translating into Spanish. I am a computer teacher in Peru, and I love spreading open source. With piracy so rampant here, it is a great alternative to have the open options. In fact, I've almost finished with my own open Grading program for our school here, and our lab runs all Linux!

    Hi Chris,

The contact form is not working for me. It doesn't let me write more than one letter on the required fields.
I didn't send my email because I thought you were able to see the member's info. Sorry about that.
I'll send it to you as soon as I can. Please check the form, and let me know if it works.

    pura vida.

I was wondering if the localized versions of the opendisc will include the localized versions of the software. For us, it would be great to have openoffice with its Spanish dictionary on the disc. If there is not enough space on your servers, we could use our servers or torrents.

    pura vida.

  13. rsandu: Nice idea about the cover art - I'll add that to the list. If you'd like to start translating, visit the contact page and leave us a message so we can send you login details.

elopio: They won't, which for some applications unfortunately results in English only programs on a translated disc. Most of the more popular programs ask for a language during installation, and more and more will follow suit as their development progresses. For the mean time there's no reason why you couldn't make a customised version - again I'll have to write up easy guidelines on how do to that.

It could be really nice to offer a customized version of The OpenDisc in spanish to all people who does not speak english. It would be helpful for many people and it would considerably increase the scope of the disc. Elopio, hungrysam, what do you think? Can we work together to pursue that objective?

    Hello, Chris,

I've just sent you by e-mail the full translation of the cover-art in Romanian, in OpenDocument format - for the 07.10 version of the CD.

Please let me know how to translate the presentation screens on the CD itself - are there some language resource .po files, to use poedit or...

    Thanks,
    Răzvan

Of course oswcab. As soon as Chris writes up the guidelines, we could check every program and add the missing spanish versions. We can use the spanish translation wiki for our discussion.

I forgot to say, that I have tried to use the contact form, to sign up for helping in translating, but the form just reply with a "ups, we think you are a spam bot".
I'm using IE7 with all settings set to standard.

So I hope you will contact me anyway, since I can't use the contact form.

    Thank you.

trmanco as already offered his help in translating to pt_PT. I can also help him with that.
I'm creating a DVD with FLOSS software that will have much of the OpenCD/OpenDisc software and I'll have to translate it to Portuguese. My efforts can be reused :D

Chris, In regard to the contact form, do you know what the problem is? (at least what I think)
The font used on the links looks pretty much the same as any non-link text, until you pass the mouse over the letters and it turns yellow. What I mean is that the links in the forum are hard to see, so you read about a contact form but you can't find it. :p
